FOR FIRE VICTIMS

Among the many treasures lost when the North Bay fires destroyed thousands of homes last October were community members’ cookbook collections, as well as handwritten recipes, often handed down through the generations. As, of course, she would, Sondra Bernstein, proprietor of Sonoma’s the girl & the fig, the fig café and Suite D, recognized the emotional significance of these losses, and the value that replacing at least some of them would have on those who lost so much. Then she did something about it.

Contribute your gently used cookbooks to Bernstein’s Delicious New Chapters—A Cook Book-Raiser for fire victims, during the month of March at locations throughout Sonoma County including the girl & the fig, The Sign of the Bear, The Rhône Room, Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, Ramekins Cooking School Events & Inn, Healdsburg SHED, Franchetti’s and TIPS Tri Tips Trolley. Check the organization’s website for drop off hours.

Fire survivors are invited to select cookbooks starting at 9am on April 8, 2018, at Bernstein’s Suite D, 21800 Schellville Road, Suite D, Sonoma.
