Lemon Verbena Tisane

May 23, 2018

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 2 Serving(s)
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup fresh, washed lemon verbena leaves (about 15 leaves)
  • 5 mint leaves (optional)

Preparation

Bring water to boil in a small saucepan. Remove from the heat and wait for 1 minute before adding verbena and mint leaves. Allow to steep for about 3 minutes—any longer and the tisane may become bitter. Pour through a tea strainer or fine-mesh sieve into 2 mugs, dividing evenly.

May be served hot or over ice. Enjoy!

About this recipe

Note: You may also use dried verbena leaves if fresh are not available. Use half the amount of dried leaves. See sidebar at right for how to dry your own. Also experiment with adding other herbs, grated ginger, honey, lemon zest or even blueberries.
