Susan Rose came to know the farmers’ market from the inside, through years of managing its rhythms, selling fruit and writing about agriculture as it was lived. Today, she runs her own small farm, where French plums, known as prunes, and an award-winning peach crisp reflect the same attention to season, restraint and care that shaped her work at the market.
