Fill ’er Up!

Napa’s Sustainable Grocery Store Concept

Good Pantry, a new alternative to the traditional grocery store, is quietly reshaping how Napa shops for everyday essentials. Located in the Food City Plaza at 1811 Old Sonoma Road, the refill-focused market is built around a simple idea: Buying good food shouldn’t generate unnecessary waste or distance shoppers from the people who produce it.

The store is the passion project of Kelly and Ryan Stetins, a wife-and-husband team deeply rooted in Napa’s food and wine community. Their approach prioritizes a refill-first model that reduces packaging while spotlighting small, family-owned farms and producers from California and across the country. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own containers—or pick up reusable ones in-store—to stock up on staples without the excess plastic that typically comes with grocery shopping.

In a city of more than 75,000 residents, Good Pantry fills a notable gap. “There’s no similar concept within 50 miles, and the shop has quickly become a hub for locals interested in sustainability, quality ingredients and supporting independent makers,” said Kelly Stetins.

Pantry essentials

The space itself is designed to feel more like a neighborhood pantry than a conventional store, where conversations happen as easily as errands. Inside, shelves are stocked with more than 300 thoughtfully sourced food and household items. Pantry essentials like grains, nuts, spices, dried fruits, flours, pasta and snacks anchor the selection, alongside household products chosen for their low environmental impact. Prepared foods add convenience and seasonal variety, allowing customers to shop for both ingredients and ready-to-eat options in one stop.

Early favorites include Italian flours, pearled farro, toffee almonds, energy chews, Thai-inspired salads and classic chicken noodle soup. Looking ahead, Good Pantry plans to expand with preorder options for fresh produce, meat and seafood, all sourced from trusted farms and fisheries. A newly introduced rewards program adds another incentive, offering points that convert into in-store savings.

Good Pantry partners with respected regional producers including Full Belly Farm, Star Route Farms, Longer Table Farm, Della Fattoria, Napa Whole Spice, Central Milling and Salute Santé Olive Oil, with proteins sourced from Oak Ridge Ranch, Mary’s Organic Chicken, Glass Rock Ranch, Sonoma Duck and Mount Lassen Trout Farm.
