Join Chef Sarah in the Under-Study Teaching Kitchen for a hands-on introduction to the craft of sourdough baking. Begin the experience with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and a brief behind-the-scenes tour of the Under-Study kitchen before rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. Designed for both beginners and aspiring home bakers, this interactive workshop focuses on the essential techniques used to create naturally leavened sourdough bread. Working with dough throughout the class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of fermentation, starter maintenance, mixing, folding, shaping, and proofing. Along the way, Chef Sarah will share the science and techniques behind creating sourdough loaves with exceptional flavor, texture, and structure. Following the workshop, guests will gather to enjoy a guided tasting of a variety of sourdough breads, exploring the unique characteristics that different fermentation and baking methods can create. In This Workshop, You Will: • Learn the fundamentals of sourdough fermentation and starter maintenance. • Practice mixing, folding, shaping, and proofing techniques through hands-on instruction. • Understand how time, temperature, and hydration influence flavor, texture, and crust development. • Gain confidence working with dough and creating artisanal sourdough bread at home. Alcoholic beverages will be available as part of the experience; however, only attendees age 21 and older with valid identification may consume alcoholic beverages.
