Bottle Shock Screening in the Park Sponsored by Yountville Arts
Yountville, CA — Yountville Arts invites the community to its second Movie Night in the Park featuring the acclaimed wine-country film “Bottle Shock” on Friday, September 5th at Veterans Park. The evening includes a special in-person introduction by Bo Barrett of Chateau Montelena, whose story is portrayed in the film.
The film is directed by Randall Miller and stars Chris Pine, Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman and is based on the story of Chateau Montelena and its owner, Jim Barrett and his son Bo, as they prepare and participate in the tasting. Bottle Shock shares the story of the early days of California wine making featuring the now infamous, blind Paris wine tasting in 1976 that has come to be know as “Judgement of Paris”. While the movie takes some creative liberties with the details, it is largely based on the true story of Chateau Montelena’s historic victory!
Before the screening, guests will enjoy complimentary wine tastings beginning at 7:00 PM from three Napa Valley legends: Chateau Montelena, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and Grgich Hills Estate — all of whom played pivotal roles in the historic 1976 Judgement of Paris.
The movie will begin at dusk, and admission is free. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and friends for a night of fine wine and iconic storytelling under the stars. Popcorn and movie concessions will be available for purchase and the movie will begin at approximately 8:00 PM.
